During the presentation showcase, the presentation of team
Dendrophilous has captured my attention.
The topic content was to implement rainwater harvesting at the
future SIT@Punggol campus. Though the slides were too long, the team has shown
a detailed presentation. It makes its easy for the audience to follow through
the presentation and understand the proposal in depth. As they were from the same
effective communication class as me, the improvements in their presentation
skills were clearly evident. All members had little reference to their slides and
maximized their eye contact with their audience. Their knowledge of the topic
and familiarization with their slides was seen through the confidence in their
communication. The presentation slides consist of minimal words and was
visually appealing. The images used provided a clear picture of what they have
intended in their proposal. In terms of progression, their flow of slides was
smooth and the appropriate transitional phrases were used. Although some
members made pauses while presenting, they remained calm and carried on with
their presentation. Some managed to intentionally use the pauses for flow of
ideas and to make it seem more conversational. Two of their team members have a good voice
projection to keep the audience engaged. On the whole, they were comfortable
and natural when responding to questions.
To make their presentation even better, they could have considered
making their slides more concise. Since there are other available rainwater
harvesting techniques utilized by PUB, they could have tapped on their
resources (e.g. videos) to show the sustainability of this technique. To actively
engage their audiences, they could have used surveys (through mobile phones) or
trigger activities at the start about water recycling at their own homes.
Thanks for this evalution of the Denrto presentation, Shaha. I appreciate the fine detail, insights and the good flunecy of your effort.
